Sniff.... (boo-hoo)... I never had an Elmer.
Did it all on my own. Now I'm the Elmer. More lids today, I find.

I pretty well did it on my own, too. Did have an older friend give me my
Novice test, and I used to call him on the phone for advice. When I got my
first xmtr on the air and couldn't get to load, he came out and helped me
troubleshoot it.
I just wish that dumb-sounding term "elmer" would go away for good. What's
wrong with "mentor"?
