That really is right on Rte 1, step outside too fast and get hit by a logging truck! The site to get years back was the entire top (6-7 acres) of East Mt in northern VT, previously a military RADAR base complete with towers, buildings, even the dishes still in the cabinets. 4th highest peak in the state. http://www.chikuku.com/eastmt/page6.html Champion owned the rest of the mountain for lumber, or did back then. Think they gave it to the state to conserve. Tried in the early 90s but could never track down the loon who bought it from the gov't in the 70s. Locals went up and trashed the place over the years and made a helluva mess. Apparently they even got into a gun fight with the former owner, who was living in one of the dormitories at the time. Some wind power folks bought some or part of it, leased it or whatever, then the state went in because of asbestos contamination in the old buildings. Once that was settled, the granola folks who want clean energy decided to take the NIMBY approach, and have managed to keep the project from moving forward. http://www.easthavenwindfarm.com/ Maybe it'll come back onto the market? ______________________________________________________________ Our Main Website: http://www.amfone.net AMRadio mailing list List Rules (must read!): http://w5ami.net/amradiofaq.html List Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/amradio Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.html Post: mailto:[email protected] To unsubscribe, send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the word unsubscribe in the message body.
