All Just a suggestion - how about letting NON HAMS into this contest as SWLs? Sure, let the Short Wave Listeners help YOU out by sending in their reports. But what incentive does that give to the SWLs to send in reports? Let SWLs get points for their reports, and give awards to SWLs for the best reports, and so on. I think that it would be a GREAT event for hams to invite non-hams into Amateur Radio. It is very easy to get a short wave radio receiver. But most SW receivers do not have a BFO for SSB or CW listening. It is mainly the AMers that would be the best introduction for non-hams. And guess what? there is very little to listen to on Short wave anymore, in the commercial broadcasts. I betcha that lots of kids would join in. This kind of event would get a lot of attention from the public if it was advertised or publicised correctly. Call it the Great American Shortwave Promotion or something similar. (GASP?) What does the list think of this idea?
