I have an Hallicrafters  SX-111 that I think works quite nice.  I am 
going to part with it and the matching speaker soon.

ever owned.  Reasonably priced too.
I have had a lot of different receivers in the past few years but this 
has
real good audio on am and can power a fairly large speaker easily.  
Easy to
tune too.
