Yes, it does go to the 6AQ5 audio output, but it is using voltage developed
across this resistor to develop a bias for the RF and IF gain control circuit,
changing the potential across the bottom of both the RF and IF gain pots. When
in RX, both gain pots are at ground on one end. That is why you can put a pot
across the mute connection on the accessory socket, and adjust this pot to
allow the RX1 to receive just a bit and set a sidetone level in the RX while
transmitting CW, and extra contacts on the external TR relay will short this
pot out in RX to allow normal operation. If you do this, the STBY/RX receive
switch is left in the STBY position.
