George, The loops are secured with Allen screws at their bottom. They take a 3/32 Allen wrench to tighten them (I just checked this on my Eggbeater). You might want to make sure there's no ice in the hex hole, or the wrench won't get a good bite. Let me know if you need a copy of the manual and I'll email it.
