humm..
well, that *might* be the reason, although we can never be too sure... if this problem happens every time, then you might want to try with a new email, if it works, it might be the cause being that your contact list is too big for poor M$ servers to handle... What you can still do is remove all users who aren't in your list or reverse list from your allow/block list.. you might also want to clean your contact list...
I don't remmeber though if you said it works with gaim...
you can also try the official client, if the problem happens even with the official client then you might want to ask for support from msn (I think it's something like [EMAIL PROTECTED]) if it works with other clients though, it would be nice to send us the sniffed packets of the connection.. maybe there's something that amsn doesn't do (I don't know what it might be but a simple possibility would be that it takes more than 1 minute to transfer the list, after 1 minute, we get a challenge request, but amsn doesn't send the challenge answer unless we're "fully connected".. it might be just a simple if/condition that prevents us from sending the challenge.. but as I said, this is a "possibility", we can't be sure of anything unless we get amsn's and official client's sniffed packets and compare (assuming the official client is able to connect)

their emails in my Reverse list which i don't think i can do anything
about it, so i have to download this big list everytime!
Any suggestion? other then making a new email?

I don't think so, Sam said (s)he has no problems connecting with GAIM, but
it could be.

I have 56 contacts (no extra users on allow/block lists), and it works
perfectly at even 1KB/sec. I don't know how it would behave with many more
contacts and 4KB/sec, but it doesn't seem to be the only problem.
