I get your point but don't forget we all do that on spare time when we want to do it, mostly it's all about motivation. Sometimes I don't have motivation and I don't code during 2 months. But when you have a good relation with other coders and you keep in touch with that people you just get more motivated and you have fun...that's all about fun, I have fun with aMSN and that's why I'm still here, it's like a hobby or something and there are amazing people here:P It's sure that the mailling list shoudn't become a social place, but it's good sometimes to be out of the topic for few messages.

totally agree with you, that's what I wanted to say, you may have explained it better and shorter...

For the reorganization of tasks I totally agree with you that Trac or Wiki should have a bigger bigger role in aMSN, now that aMSN 0.95 is almost finished it will be time to talk about it. Updating wiki for all important things here needs discipline but it's possible to accomplish that.

yes, totally agree and that's where we're going and it's getting so much more organized lately.. look at the wiki, we have release guide, guides for everything, checkup lists for a lot of things, and we're like AI, we're learning from our mistakes, we're documenting as we go... what I didn't like about Lee's mail though is that it had no place at all in the discussion and was totally useless in this time.. if you sent it a few months before, then kudos.. but now.. it's useless as we know all that.. it's redundant and it's unfair as alot of effort has already been done... you should reconize other's work as much as you like your work being reconized...

BTW first important thing for everybody for the wiki...When you update the wiki...there's a small box "Comments". That's like the comments in amsn-commits. Just add a comments, what you changed. Just a line is necessary. 1. It's useful for people willing to translate the wiki, they know what changed and they don't need to re-read all text. 2. When you want to know in "history" what happened on the wiki you have a better idea.

great, didn't know about that, never noticed it... (although never needed it as we can do a diff pretty easily, but it is important, as the diff can give you 'this line was removed', but you won't understand why it was removed...)

Oh and BTW my nickname on the wiki is scapor...who manage the wiki? Can you check if germinator still exists? If yes, delete it and recreate it...I'm not able to connect (yes I tried to check the "Remember" checkbox)

huh ?? scapor is Karel !! yours is germinator.. the account is still there and well configured! I don't want to remove it now because then I'll need to reate a new one, you'll need to reconfigure it (timezone + blabla) and I'll need to give you admin access again and I don't know how to do that (as of yet)... I can try changing your password... but I need the old password... we'll talk about it on msn tomorrow (friday) night, or during the week-end, we may be able to fix it in some other way... btw, when you enter user/password, you have either no message (which means its ok) or you get the message 'invalid username/password'.. did you get that ?

Ok guys...

I know we are finally dropping this topic, but please read this so we
don't have to go over an issue like this in the future (first post
from Wed, 09 Nov 2005:
Yes, there are real women on the internet.):

http://www.canllaith.org/blog/

More time should be spent developing and finalizing the release, and
less time should be spent talking about other people and their gender,
beliefs, whatever.

Go ahead and say, Lee, it was only a joke, lighten up. I don't care,
i'm just here to do my job, and make 0.95 the best it can be.

I DO have a sense of humor, and like to have a good time, this is just
not the place for it when we have work to do.

Imagine how much time has been spent talking about this topic on the
list.... could this time be used to better the 0.95 release? Probably.

Why the hell is Lee typing this message and not working on the
website? I have been working very hard on the website for a very long
time. The dev. team needs to look at where this project is headed....
if we are set astray (like most of these dev. emails, which end up
being off topic most of the time), how are we going to stay on track
and keep our future and innovation in mind? Sure, trac will help, but
we must start somewhere and organizing our ideas on the dev. list is a
good place to start. I don't see the point in sorting through so many
emails to find the important information. Even though I have many
starred messages, it still takes too much time to sort through them
all to find the important information.

Just a few things to remember when developing in the future....

WOW,
what can I say.. a girl shows up and war starts.. reminds me of Troy... lol ok, just stop everybody.. Phil is partially right, I do love to become a
bloodthirsty dictator :) and when I'm angry, I become really mad and I
easily loose my temper... but once I get all that out, I'm back to being
the nice guy I always try to fake :D lol
About Jerome, I have no idea what Phil is talking about, no idea what
happened between Jerome and his gf but all I have to say is :
1 - Phil : don't flame someone on the list, it's immoral and shows how
much of a lowlife you are :P
2 - Jerome : don't pay attention to him, knowing him and seeing the way he
said everything, I'm sure everyone thinks he's talking non-sense, so we
don't care about what he says...
3 - Jerome : whatever he said, true or not, don't worry, we all had
difficult experiences with the opposite sex...
4 - Jerome : I know you're not desperate or anything, I know you're just
joking and I've done some worse jokes, trust me, once Vivia and you
cleared that thing out, it's finished, it's in the past...
5 - Jerome : PM me with details about that story ^o) (6) lol
6 - Jerome : are we ready to release ?

When I saw your message...I said to myself oooh Philousophe will be
happy to read that, to shit things on me.

I'll answer to your last-last message later today (it's positive Vivia
don't worry ;-))

And Phil, don't try to be the nice guy here like you had no blame and
trying to tell people I'm a sexual desperate man here, if you have a
problem or something, you know how to reach me, the mailling list is not the place to difamme me and saying stupid things with a moralist tone of
voice , particulary when it's not your damn business.

NO (don't you trust Youness telling you?) and I wonder why you're
keeping
up - a joke said 56432785648732 times is no joke anymore. If you think it's funny, you have a pervert sense of humor. If you think it's true,
well, what can I say, get a life...

... well, sorry if I'm talking like this, I know you're joking and I'm
sorry to cut this in such a "cruel" way, but really it's starting to
disturb me at this point.

Hi,
Welcome in the "true" aMsn team Vivia !! As you can see aMsn team isn't
so
perfect you surely imagined (like me... :p)
If it's not Youness who plays his dictator it's Jérome who launch sexual related topics !! We all know that Jérome is depressed because nobody is
interested in him ! You are so nasty !! You shouldn't be so cruel !
Jérome
was so happy !! He found a girl who was interested in him !! OOO so bad
now
he will suicide him !! Seriously, if you know what he did you wouldn't
be
surprised ( Remember Jérome what you did about my girlfriend... ).
Anyway, Youness don't take my critic at serious everybody can be in a
bad mind
one day or two... But Jérome you have to change !! Its not with this
mind you
will found your gf :p !
Phil
