Arieh, your mail makes perfect sense, look me add a few comments though :
1 - about the newline and the bindings, totally agree, although never
noticed, but it's a good/good/good point! make sure to note it down
someone(==Vivia) and not forget to check this when coding that part!
2 - About not liking the bold thing + msn7 not having it bold, well, I
like it this way... and Ir eally though it was bold in m$n.. I just
checked and you're right! :o I guess I'm getting old... oh and I think
it's because I was looking for a italic font and only found 'sbolditalf'
which is italic + bold.. so I took it and then I liked it bold and though
it should be like that and was always like that (+ usually italic is hard
to see I think, now PSMs are really easy to spot)..
anyways, I agree then, since M$ does it this way, then I would prefer it
to stay like that, italic only, not bold.. do NOT add any option for this
"do you want PSM to be bold" or "choose font for psm".. as it is totally
unnecessary! I'll have to get used to non-bold, anyways, it's not a major
issue or anything, right?
I'll write the conclusion on a separate thread with high pri just to be
clear

(finally :D :D :D)
well, it won't be influenced by custom/global nicks. if a user wants to
have custom/global nicks and no psm, they can define them separately.
i'll do this today, later on...
I only skimmed a lot of the mails in this thread because there was just a
lot of 'I think it should look like this'. I just wanted to say a couple
of
quick points about what I read at the start and about spending time on
the
options.
First I want to say that Toms new contactlist is moving along very
quickly,
in no time I am hoping we will move across to it. I believe that once it
is
finished it will be much simpler to modify the looks and positioning of
different text. Therefore Im not sure that we should spend much time on
these options. If you want to do it for the 'fun' and dont mind that it
will
probably get lost when we move to the new contact list then go ahead.
Also
if its not going to take that long you can also go ahead (I haven't
looked
into how hard it will be to create the options).
Second, if you do start creating multiline nicks (ie where psm is on
second
line), please try not to put the bindings on the newline. When you have a
binding on a newline, then if you click anywhere from the last char to
the
far right of the window you get it as if you clicked on the name. To be
able
to scroll (in windows anyway) you need to have the window (or the
contactlist) selected, so I always select the whitespace beside the nick.
When we had the psm on the next line, I would often get a chat opening
when
I didnt want it. (Although note, I prefer it on 1 line anyway, so if
those
who want multiline dont care then its fine by me....)
Finally, I would prefer we have the psm not bold, that would also be
following ms m$n. Im not sure what version you checked on Youness, but I
have attaced a small chunk of a screenshot from the official m$n client,
including a name with a psm.
Lio.
PS when I was looking at that screenshot I just noticed that the official
client didnt have any of the display pictures, so I went back in and they
started to come through... maybe they just hadn't dl when I took the
image.
