If you did not ever use GLib, it might take > some time to get used to it, but then you'll like it! Telepathy is built on DBUS. The components written by us (Collabora) have been in GLib. Some have been in python. And anything in C++/QT will also work. Basically any language that has DBUS bindings can fit into Telepathy.
