+1 from here. It would just clutter imho. :) When transferring a file with an IM program, you usually associate it with the sender/receiver and not with other downloads, so a download manager would be yet another desktop clutter... OK, better than the many transfer windows we have now, but still a nuisance. I think that the status bar is quite appropriate for FT info.
