Hi all,
As some of you know, we went to FOSDEM on february of last year and we were
a few of the aMSN team there to meet with each other for the first time and
it was a great experience for all of us!
This year, I decided to skip FOSDEM, but I will be attending the Desktop
Summit... I think this could be a great opportunity to have another aMSN
meeting, so if anyone is interested, now would be a good time to start
talking about it!
The Desktop Summit is actually a single conference that regroups both the
GUADEC conference and the Akademy conference into a single conference, so
KDE and GNOME fans should be delighted! :)
The conference will be during July and, yes, it will be in an amazing place!
Gran Canaria! Yep, the Canary Islands! Officially spain terroritory but
everyone knows it should be Moroccan territory!!!!!!!!! bastard
spaniards...:p
Anyways, in order to track all of our past and future conference
attendences... i've set up this page :
http://www.amsn-project.net/wiki/Conferences
So you should all head to :
http://www.amsn-project.net/wiki/Desktop_Summit_2009
And start applying if you are willing to go!
For now, we don't know yet how many people would want to go and what budget
we would have for everyone... So it would be nice if everyone who is able to
go there (in terms of timing and motivation) enters his information in the
wiki page, Also try to get information on how much it would cost for your
travel and how much you are willing to pay from your own pocket, this way we
could try and see how much total it would cost us if we were to fund some of
you, and in order to see who can come and who can't! Applying for funding
doesn't necessarily mean that we'll be able to fund you, for now, it's just
to get an estimate on what we would need, who would be able to come,
etc...!! And don't be too cheap, aMSN is not rich, but we'd be willing to
fund some people who really want to come and don't have the money to come,
and I might even throw in some money from my own pocket, so if you can come
with your own funding, no need to request funding from aMSN (you could also
say, I can pay X% of the price of the ticket, etc..)!
Last year we had some tshirts that we gave to developers and users, this
year, we could do the same, or a bit different, whatever great idea sparks
in your minds, just write it in the wiki!
Let's start this discussion now and see where it goes.. ideas should be
discussed here and added to the wiki and let's figure out what's going to
happen and how everything will eventually work!
What do you say ?
p.s.: Thanks square for reminding me to write about this!
