Thanks for the replies! Well, I have been thinking about that last night and
I made the delegate to draw
the items like the first option. It's really original and nice, and adding
rounded borders really makes the
whole list look really great.
What KaKaRoTo said is true, contacts aren't files, so yes, some people might
like amsn2-qt4 to look like
amsn1 and draw only the contacts, without borders nor backgrounds nor
nothing else.
So my solution for this is this:

Contacts will be drawn with borders/background/rounded borders/etc so the
skinning of amsn2-qt4 will be easy,
and by default it will look like this:

This way we will make happy both those people who like amsn1 and those who
like msn/wlm style.
And, this way we will be also able to select contacts with the keyboard. Pay
attention to the contact who's
dp is a little bit more dark, maybe dark-blue. This one is the selected one.
In fact, in the second screenshot all stylesheets were just set to #ffffff.
Beautiful, isn't it? :p
I think that contact list is done. It needs some little code cleanup, but
it's finally done :)
