In my opinion these lines are corrupt. The space should be escaped as %20. I
know Apache doesn't though. There's a rather unsatisfactory discussion of
this in the Apache manual.

The problem is, which is the filename? If I actually ask your server for
  GET /~myoung/Copy of sm_xr250.jpg HTTP/1.0
I will probably get /~myoung/Copy not "/~myoung/Copy of sm_xr250.jpg". So
the server needs to distinguish between the above case and
  GET /~myoung/Copy%20of%20sm_xr250.jpg HTTP/1.0
