Hi,
I have just completed a harness script for analog and a few
other things (log rotation, compression, archiving, &c) and
it's looking pretty useful (I may ask my employers if I can
release it).
We have a few sites, though, which do a lot of traffic and,
even using a cache, DNS lookups slow the stats generation
significantly, so much that if run sequentially, a weeks'
stats take can nearly half a week to run.
Since this is mostly io bound, it would be nice to be able
to run multiple concurrent analogs for different logs/vhosts
but I'm relucatant to lose the DNS cache.
Is there a way either to safely share the cache (read/write)
or to merge several DNS cache files?
(This is analog 3.mumble on Solaris, FWIW.)
Matthew.
