This fix was successful.  I changed the fopen( ) to fopen64( ).
FYI, the log file was 2.1Gb

fopen() actually. You mean, fopen() on Solaris 7 will only open small files?
Weird.

You could try changing the definition of FOPENR in anlghea3.h.
