Ak! It may be clear, but unfortunately it didn't work - that particular
code only gets run for the time-based reports. (duh!) What I ended up
doing next was adding to the "genrep" function in output.c
==> if (rowcnt++ > MAX_ROWS) continue;
This works for HOST, SEARCH, and a couple other reports. Unfortunately
this kills off the [not listed] entry when this limit is bumped- but at
least that doesn't cause it to print false data. (like "[3 items not
listed]" when it actually left out several thousand because of MAX_ROWS)
Unfortunately I'd also need to limit REFERRER, REQUEST, and maybe even
USER, FAILURE, and a few others. I just need to track down how to make
this work for the other reports. I'm definitely getting an education in
Analog's inner workings... unfortunately I must press on with a few other
things. Definitely not as easy as I was hoping, sorry to have troubled
everyone with it.
Thanks *much* for your time and input- and for writing code that's at
least reasonably easy to read, with (gasp!) an occasional comment! I'm
sure that once I dig deeper I'll find what I need, but if you have any
general words of wisdom I'd love to hear them. High-level flow charts or
pseudocode would be even better, but I think that's pushing it. :)
