This is the only way to get Analog to restart it's counting of any
quantity.

Because the Unique Hosts would give the correct value which is the
number of
unique hosts in the period. :)

Analog is not designed to count visits. As discussed in the file
docs/webworks.html this is a very hard quantity to find in the first
place
and you are not likely to get an accurate number any way you look at it.

On the other hand some careful use of Apache's mod_usertrack and
Analog's
LOGFORMAT command for specifying a custom logformat may get you
something
close to the number you want.
