The counter that IIS uses can stop after 49 days:. This causes the 
symptoms you describe.

You need to reboot, but a current service pack should fix the problem.

Slightly off-topic but does anyone else know of or have a problem with 
the dates in the Microsoft IIS logs.

At the moment the logs are outputting all the log dates as 11 July 2000.
