with different versions of analog, I'm facing a strange problem on our system.
We're running Apache 1.3.9 on AIX 4.3, and the Analog versions I've tested are 3.32
and 4.11 (also running on this AIX system).
With BOTH analog versions, the situation is pretty much the same:
The sever produces a logfile from requests on port 80, and another logfile from port
443. The logformat is identical (see example below) - even the
analog.cfg is about the same (analog is called with command line switches to specify
different cfg-files). The only differences in the cfg file are
of course the two different logfile-locations, the "Server-Name", a different
dns-file/lockfile, and the name of the report-file.
So I would call this "identicially configured".
However, analog runs okay with the logfiles from port 80. The created reports are fine.
With the logfiles from port 443, the analog process starts to work, but allocates more
and more memory during its runtime, until the hard system
limit of 256M is reached (then of course the process is terminated by AIX). The
ammount of used memory increases slowly, until this limit is reached.
So no report is generated, as the process is dumped before it has finished. I tried to
simplify the cfg (up to only the 'Totals' section enabled),
with no visible effect.
However, there's one significant difference between the logfiles: the ones from port
443 contain quite long lines - maybe the lead to memory
leaks?!?! Anyone an idea how to fix the situation, as our marketing division wants to
see some reports :-)
