Dear Stephen et al,
You very kindly responded to my recent query as to why my General
Summary total of Successful Requests does not add up to the combined
monthly totals in the Monthly Report.
Unfortunately I've been away and lost the thread (literally)
To recap: I'm running Analog4.0 on Redhat Linux 5.2, Apache 1.3.12.
I have several Virtual Hosts and run daily analog reports for all of
them.
Some have just an access_log report, others have access and referrer.
Stephen suggested that the problem could be if my logfile entries ran
over two lines, as Analog counts the lines. However, I trawled through a
bunch of logs and, with the odd exception, they all seem to be confined
to one line (by that I mean without a line break).
The other theory I had was that as the General Summary total is almost
double the monthly totals, maybe Ananlog was counting the lines in
access and referrer log and lumping them together for General Summary.
At this point Stephen was asking about my log formats - so, here they
are:
Example analog.cfg entry for one of my vhosts:
LOGFILE /etc/httpd/logs/fantasytiles-access_log
APACHELOGFORMAT (%{Referer}i -> %U)
LOGFILE /etc/httpd/logs/fantasytiles-referer_log
OUTFILE /home/httpd/html/cyberscreen/fantasytiles_stats.html
HOSTNAME "WWW.FANTASYTILES.COM"
and, to reiterate the problem, here is an extract from today's analog
output:
===================================
General Summary:
Successful requests: 31,231 (3,096)
Average successful requests per day: 516 (442)
Monthly Report:
month: reqs: pages:
--------: ----: -----:
Jun 2000: 6352: 1691:
Jul 2000: 8972: 2377:
Aug 2000: 15: 5:
=================================================================
Any further theories?
TIA
