It's not a question as to "level of analysis". Things like stickiness and the
like are simply too vague. You can get a hand-waving approximation, but in the
end, decisions based on these figures can be dangerously wrong, because the
figures aren't constrained to have any relationship to reality. They're 9 parts
wishful thinking to 1 part actual data.
Yes, WebTrends will give you stickiness and trajectories. And if taken with a
grain of salt, they can be valuable guides to what's happening on your site --
but Stephen refuses to provide numbers without a solid basis in fact. It's a
moral stance, not a question of money. WebTrends doesn't do a better job of
analysis, it does a better job of handholding for marketroids.
