hi,
i am running analog monthly reports on Unix. i am having a discrepancy
in the total requests and the monthly total generated as a result of running
analog. i am attaching a small part of my configuration file.
LOGFORMAT (%S - - [%d/%M/%Y:%h:%n:%j %j] "%j %r %j" %c %b "%f" "%B" "%u" %v)
DEFAULTLOGFORMAT (%S - - [%d/%M/%Y:%h:%n:%j %j] "%j %r %j" %c %b "%f" "%B"
"%u" %v)
LOGFILE /logs/files/2000-07/access_log.07*.gz
DNS NONE
this is how an entry in a sample log file looks like in our case.
209.178.134.134 - - [01/Jun/2000:00:00:44 -0400] "GET
/media/images/activities/webpaint/but_webpaint.gif HTTP/1.0" 304 -
"http://www.mamamedia.com/areas/surprise/main.html" "Mozilla/4.61
[en]C-CCK-MCD (Win98; U)" "Apache=209.178.135.55.8135957677413451" mama

All of the above is a SINGLE LINE entry though this scrolls over onto many
lines here.
any ideas as to why the discrepancy arises? for the month of july it was
about 1 million( analog monthly counts more) while for june it is as high as
39 million( analog monthly counts more).
