DNSTran uses the standard system supplied lookup routines. There may be
some settings on your system that you can tune to improve performance.
The best possible thing is to use a local DNS server instead of some
shared server at your ISP. A cheap Linux machine makes a good DNS server,
and it can sometimes give you dramatic improvements in speed depending on
how good your ISP is.

Those numbers, translated and unknown, can be misleading, they tell you
the total number of IPs seen, including duplicates. The percentage of
hosts that have translations is probably higher than it appears to be.

DNSTran will retry failed lookups again each day, for a total of up to
four attempts per host. So if you try translating the log again each day
for a few days the success ratio will improve somewhat. This only happens
if you are using the new private DNS cache format.

Dr. Seuss books . . . can be read and enjoyed on several levels. For
example, 'One Fish Two Fish, Red Fish Blue Fish' can be deconstructed
as a searing indictment of the narrow-minded binary counting system.
