David,
To edit analog.cfg you will need to use (for example) notepad. When you
click (or double click) on the file and it prompts you to choose a program,
scroll down to Notepad and select "always use this program to open files of
this type" (or similar wording)
You will need to tell analog where your logfile is (ie c:\temp\logfile.log)
and then FROM A COMMAND PROMPT go to the directory where analog is and type
analog and hit enter. The Command Prompt is in the Start Menu. To change
directory you would use a command like
cd "C:\Program Files\Analog 4.13"
(Using the folder that you unpacked it to, of course.)
More information on DOS can be found by selecting Help from the Start Menu.
The docs are not bad, but you need to get the thing doing something for them
to make sense. Good luck

Subject: [analog-help] Starting Out With Analog
Hi
Could any one help me get started with analog
I have down loaded Analog 4.13 and unzipped it into windows 98 and filed it
under
c\programmes\accessories\Analog 4.13\
As far as I can see it is all in place but on following the instructions
(Analog 4.13 Starting to use analog under Windows) and clicking on the icon
for analog.cfg causes a DOS screen to appear for a second. Using the pause
button I see that this screen gives the warning that the programme has F:
failed to open and that it is being ignored and that the programme is R:
turning off.
FAQ advises that this is normal behaviour but as it happens with all the DOS
windows (Analog .cfg analog.exe and the examples) I cannot see where to put
in any commands or configure analog
So far I cannot discoer how to start although I have only tried to use
windows and not DOS .
Any advice would be gratefully received.
David Burns
