sure, but first of all the request is simply that * / *

GET is what the client wants the server to do, and HTTP/1.1 is the 
protocol version client and server are going to use

Back to the question: try

FILEALIAS / /index.html

(for a different site I have 
FILEALIAS / index.html
i.e. the slash is not inserted in front of the filename in the 
output, but honestly I don't remember why I decided to do one way or 
the other....)


My config files also carry a
DIRSUFFIX index.html
