ENVIRONMENT:
- Windows 2000 Professional, IIS, W3SVC log files
(all fields enabled)
WHAT I DID (etc):
Run analog on the log files & all seems
fine.
Notice that our own IP addresses are turning
up
I want to COMPLETELY exclude our own machines from
the analysis, so I add to analog.cfg:
HOSTEXCLUDE 213.155.156.*
...
I would expect this to tell analog to COMPLETELY
IGNORE any lines where the c-ip field matches a HOSTEXCLUDE line/pattern (ie as
if those lines were physically removed from the logfiles before analog is
run)
This seems to reduce most of the counts, which is
good
But the excluded addresses are still turning up in
the 'Referring Site Report'
Consequently, I have no confidence that our own
machines are being excluded from ALL reports.
The Include/Exclude section of the help is not
clear on exactly what HOSTEXCLUDE is doing & what it seems to say is that it
should withold these addresses altogether (from all sections of the report),
which is not happening.
QUESTION:
-how do I prevent IP addresses & URLs showing
up in the analog report altogether?
- do I need to use multiple EXCLUDE commands to
withold internal addresses from all sections of the analog report?
-what exactly does HostExclude do?! The help text
is not very clear on this.
This is extremely frustrating, as it prevents me
from having confidence in the numbers that analog is producing.
