Didn't start a flame. Your answer just seemed a little ridiculous. You
made it sounds like why should I use analog if I have a logfile.
I'm not asking for the length a user is logged in for.
As stated, I just want log lines that are related to users and give me
the date/time, request, along with IP addresses.
For example, here is a line from the log file:
222.222.222.22 - user1 [27/Jun/2001:20:41:52 -0400] "GET
/member/index.htm HTTP/1.1" 304 - "http://www.domain.com/"; "Mozilla/4.0
(compatible; MSIE 5.01; Windows NT 5.0)"
You can easily see you can get the user, the date and time, as well as
the IP address.
For example:
user1 requested /member/index.htm on 27/Jun/2001:20:41:52 using the Ip
address of 222.222.222.22
I was asking if Analog can read logfiles lines that contain user info an
return the details on date/time, requested file and IP address.

Analog is a tool for summarizing log files. I'm not really certain
what you were asking for, but what is seemed like you wanted was a
report of each access by each registered user with the IP address that
they came in on.
As HTTP is a stateless protocol, you can't know *for certain* about
the length of a login by a registered user. (The actual login action
is not recorded in web logs.) So the best you could get from Analog
would be a report listing each request for each registered user,
showing the IP address they had and the time of the request.
This is essentially a logfile.
If you don't need to correlate users and IP addresses, and you are
just looking for logins over a period of time, then you can produce a
standard Analog report with the FROM and TO commands to limit the
period and look at the Host Report and User Report to get the
information you need.
If you do need to correlate registered users with IP addresses, then
Analog is not the tool for that. This is the FAQ item I previously
