No, you don't need libpng. All the required code from libpng is already
included in src/libpng/.
Of course, whether libpng will compile on minority OS's is another matter.
My code is very careful about this, but other people's isn't always. You can
exclude all this code by defining NOGRAPHICS, but you will lose the pie
charts.
