Sure.

Not so easy -- you have an IP; getting an MX for mail delivery may or may not
be possible, depending on the DNS configuration of the site; given that CodeRed
infections are typically people that don't have professionals administering
their networks, it's unlikely that things will be sufficiently rational to
permit a script to do anything.

You'd think so.  Open mail relays, however, still transmit, oh, more than half
of all spam, despite years of similar persuasion.  The problem is that people
don't want to pay competent administrators, and Microsoft encourages them to
believe that Windows is "so easy" that they don't really *need* competent
administrators.  The result: pain and suffering for everyone, but lots of money
for Microsoft.

Excuse my bile.

Incidentally, I had thought the X variant was the second generation.  Certainly
I'm no longer seeing the N variant.
