actually I have seen this before when a servlet or cgi is run and returns a
zero bytes of data transfered to the logfile the user will actually see the
right amount of information but the web server returns zero bytes to the
log file .

Why does Analog register files whose size is 0 bytes?

This one only the author of analog might know precisely.
Anyhow, I'd suppose:
First, to show that there are "empty content" responses from certain sites.
Second, for aesthetical reasons. A list containing the whole range of
dimensions is much more expressive than one strictly aimed to values.
Third: analog is aimed to monitorize the *requests*. If the *answer* was
empty, that's not its fault...
