You can ask for anything you like. Indeed in many ways XML would be a good
thing.

The problem is that it is very hard to add new output formats at the
moment. Last time I added one (LaTeX) I knew it wouldn't be widely used,  
but I thought it would be pretty straightforward to add it. Let's just say
that if I'd known how much work it was going to be, I wouldn't have started
it.

I have thought of writing a universal language in which new output formats
could be written, so that someone wanting a new format could just write some
sort of template or building blocks. The problem is that even the current
formats differ just enough to need all sorts of annoying special cases
everywhere.

So basically I haven't sorted out in my own mind how to proceed on this, and
for the moment there aren't going to be any new formats, even though there
are at least three more I want to add.

Of course, suggestions are welcome, as always...
