FROM 020301:0000
TO 020301:2359

will just report on hits for the 1st of March.

FROM -00-00-01:0800
TO -00-00-01:1000
will just report on hits between 8AM and 10AM yesterday (-00-00-03 would
be 3 days ago, etc).

FROM -00-00-00:-00-20
will just report on the last 20 minutes of your (live) logs.

I don't know of any reason why DNS file issues should cause whole days
worth of hits not to be reported.

I had assumed that you have a single log file. But if you're generating
DNS files of that size, your log file would have to be huge. If you
disable DNS lookups, do you see the "holes" in your reports? If not, then
it's unlikely to be a DNS issue.
