ok - fair point. I use 1 config file for each site I analyse - not too
difficult to manage as there are only 16 sites.

Thanks, Aengus. Good thought, but it echoed everything beautifully so it's
not a line length problem.

Maff, my reason for trying to run it this way is to have one configuration
file that I use for each of 50 states  rather than 50 cfg files. Using one
kornshell script I can customize the logfile, outfile, hosturl, and
hostname, or anything else for that matter. I'll keep at it and see what
happens.

I've often used more arguments than that on NT, so I don't think the
problem is with Analog. I'd be surprised if it has anything to do with
the total line length, but to test that, I'd just try to use echo
instead of Analog to see exactly what the shell is trying to work with.
