Because of how things are set up over here: I have a bunch of config files
for producing particular reports, and each has an OUTFILE. (E.g. browser.conf
for browser report, daily.conf for daily report and summary etc.) I have to
edit each of them and change OUTFILEs to send output to a different directory
(no other changes).

LOGFILE, OTOH, is in a common config. So I can change LOGFILE in one place
and use the same set of config files on a different set of log files. But I
have to change many OUTFILEs to place the results in a different directory.
If I could change one OUTDIR in the common config file instead... but like I
said, the best place to do that -- now that I gave it some thought -- is in
the wrapper shell script, so it's a moot point anyway.
