Chris,
A number of Analog users have written helper applications.
Some have been submitted to Stephen Turner (Analog author)
to be included on his Helper Applications page. If you browse
to "http://www.analog.cx/helpers/"; and select "Pre-processing",
the first entry (adddates.pl, logfix.vbs and convlog) explains the
issue that you face and provides links to helper applications.
