PDF's are sent from the server a page at a time if your're viewing them though a browser. If you check your logs I would expect a lot of '206' return code. One user reading the whole document would give 160+ log entries. Confused the heck out of me the first time it happened (we put a few of the main documents on our webserver for students to access).
