My Analog reports appears to give a strange entry for 'Distinct files requested' in
the General Summary section.

I'm only analysing requests to one folder of my site, from Tue-05-Nov-2002 09:46 to
Wed-20-Nov-2002 12:45 (15.12 days), to try and make sense of what's happening.

The General Summary includes:
(Figures in parentheses refer to the 7-day period ending 21-Nov-2002 23:59).
Successful requests: 20 (2)
Successful requests for pages: 20 (2)
Distinct files requested: 19 (2)
Distinct hosts served: 1 (1)
Unwanted logfile entries: 1,099,517

The File Type Report shows:
reqs: extension
----: ---------
  11: .doc [Microsoft Word document]
9: .pdf [Adobe Portable Document Format]

The Request Report shows:
reqs: %pages: file
----: ------: ----
   5: 25.00%: /subdir1/subdir2/subdir3/subdir4/sometext+-+moretext+data/sometext-ms.doc
   5: 25.00%:
/subdir1/subdir2/subdir3/subdir4/sometext+-+moretext+data/sometext_abc.pdf
   4: 20.00%: /subdir1/subdir2/subdir3/subdir4/sometext+-+moretext+data/s-def.doc
   4: 20.00%: /subdir1/subdir2/subdir3/subdir4/sometext+-+moretext+data/sometextghi.pdf
   2: 10.00%: /subdir1/subdir2/subdir3/subdir4/sometext+-+moretext+data/1234.doc

I can't work out why the "Distinct files requested: 19 (2)" appears in the General
Summary when there are only five different files being requested. No combination of
the requests can be made to sum to 19, as the lowest is 2 requests!

Everything else ties up OK, e.g. 11 requests for .doc and 9 requests for .pdf

When I restrict the analysis to just one day, Wed 20 Nov, I get "Distinct files
requested: 2" in the General Summary,

The File Type Report shows:
reqs: extension
----: ---------
   2: .doc [Microsoft Word document]

The Request Report shows:
reqs: %pages: file
----: ------: ----
   2: 100%: /subdir1/subdir2/subdir3/subdir4/sometext+-+moretext+data/1234.doc

I can't find much information about Distinct Files on the analog.cx site; I'd always
assumed that it meant the number of different files requested.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

David Waters
