Hi analog-devs and users,
I'm very impressed by analog and its statistics. I wonder if you have
considered one more browser statistics that deals with the engines that
browsers use. Of course it is interesting how the browsers are named but
in a normal "Browser Summary" there are not recognized the differences
between browsers that name itself Netscape: Both Netscape 4 and 7 are
listed together in the Netscape part but Netscape 7 is far away from
Netscape 4: Netscape 7 uses the same engine like Mozilla, Gecko.
I list know the engines that are used by several browser:
# based on Gecko
* Camino
* Epiphany
* Firebird
* Galeon
* K-Melon
* Mozilla
* Netscape > 6
# based on KHTML
* Konqueror
* OmniWeb > 4.5
* Safari
It does not matter if you use Camino on Mac, Netscape 7 on Windows or
Galeon on Linux, the webpage should be rendered the same way. Thus,
browsers with the same engine should be summarized.
The other browsers (MSIE, Opera, ...) base AFAIK on its own engines and
should be listed in the same way as in the "Browser Summary".
What do you think about this idea?
Kind regards from Germany
Martin
