I responded last week, but I think it bounced. Here are my thoughts again:
Microsoft is in the process of building what they hope to be a Google-killer search engine. The reason you have not seen it before is that it's a new robot. It's also still under development. See http://www.msnsearch.com/msnbot.htm for details on the crawler.
On some sites I've seen msnbot has out-ranked Googlebot as the most prolific crawler, but it's still less than 1% of total traffic. Unless you have a very large number of content pages that nobody ever reads I don't know why a crawler would be 90% of your traffic. The only possibility is that MS is doing heavy development on the engine and has restarted the service frequently and that your sites happen to be near the beginning of their crawl list.

+------------------------------------------------------------------------Has anyone else here noticed a recent HUGE HUGE HUGE jump in msnbot activity. In fact, I don't even remember seeing it before, but now it is over 90% of our browser traffic.
Is this indicative of the recent virus activity on the internet?
Thanks.
