I was editing the wrong file.  When I do as you suggested it works.

I just took a peek at our log files and the IP address is completely 
replaced. So take the 127.1.1.1 out and put someone.that.i.know.com in 
it's place. You could probably write a quick script to go in and replace 
certain IPs with whatever text you specified.
