Perhaps the easiest solution for you would be to delete all the cache files. But just in case, you should probably make a back up of them first.

hello Jeremy,
i believe that the version of analog on the server is out of my reach since i am hosted virtually (reseller package). doubt that i could run 'analog-settings'...
however, i looked around my directories and there is a file called "cache" inside each site's /tmp/analog subdirectory. this must be what you are talking about.
my hosting company does not seem to know much about analog and its configuration (i asked them to look into this before posting here). can anyone provide clear step-by-step instructions that would allow them to turn off cache?
thanks!

Yes, analog can do incremental processing with a feature that is called cache files. See http://analog.cx/docs/cache.html. But it doesn't do this by default and takes some configuration to accomplish.
Perhaps a quick perusal of the configuration files would help decipher some of this. You can run 'analog -settings' to have Analog tell you how it is configured including all the configuration files it's reading.

hello Aengus,
the server is a pretty basic linux/apache/whm/cpanel setup. all the sites are set to "Archive Logs in your home directory at the end of each month". therefore the raw logs are only since the beginning of the cu rrentmonth.
JUST checked again and have to make a correction -- the one site that is behaving differently is NOT "monthly", since both the sept and oct reports start from sept 1! therefoore that site is also behaving in a cumulative fashion, except that it has a different start date from the others...
all the analog reports are cumulative (since the start of hosting last year) -- until september 1st when that one site had its start-date re-set. note that 2 other stat programs (webalizer and awstats) aalso run automatically every night, and they report just the *current* month.
i would expect that all this points to something about analog's settings, and not the raw logs. can analog make reports by reading a current monthly raw log and ADDING those results to a previous report/calculation? that woud explain...

If Analog is configured the same on all of the sites, then the websites are configured differently for logfile retention or rotation.
Analog is only reporting on what's in the logs - can you tell whether the sites that are only showing this months hits even have log files for last month?
