Hi,

I am new to analog. Currently I have a link to external reference in my web
page.

eg. <a href="http://google.com";>google</a>

how can I trace 'how many people click this link'?

Short answer: You can't, because they don't notify you when they go to the other site.

Long answer: You can, if you make the link point to a file on your site,
and then automatically redirect them from that file to Google. To do it transparently, you will have to use a server-side redirect, not a client- side redirect, which means you will have to have the cooperation of the server administrator. If you use a client-side redirect, there will be a noticeable pause on the intermediate page.
