Not true for Firefox (1.0.6) on OSX (10.3.9): here it toggles the
browser window to fill the screen and back to how I positioned it. As a
side note: Alt-F4 also doesn't work on a Mac.
I'd suggest Denis to look for the correct Menu item of his particular
browser. So much interesting stuff can be found there. Again for
Firefox/OSX, there is Menu View: Navigation: Toolbars: Navigation
Toolbar (may vary in version for other platforms)

If you are talking about the address bar in your browser, try F11. This
toggles the address bar on and off.
