If a particular host IP address shows up in the log today, and then

The "distinct hosts" count is the number of distinct hosts that occur in whatever log files are being analysed. If you analyse daily logs you might get 27 "distinct hosts" on Monday, 32 on Tuesday, 12 on Wednesday, 17 on Thursday, 65 on Friday, 50 on Saturday and 6 on Sunday.

If you analyse all 7 logfiles in a single run, your "distinct hosts" figure could be anything between 65 and 205.
