Are you running this module when you're encountering the problem? How
is it communicating with Analog?
No, I pulled it out to narrow down the problem. It was/will be
invoked by anlgform.pl.
Now this is really peculiar. This may be a bug in Firefox, or else the
POST response sent by the analog binary is somehow non-conforming, but
other browsers tolerate it.
Using vanilla anlgform.html, anlgform.pl and analog 6.0 on Mac OS X (CGI
files configured as little as possible), and Firefox 2.0.0.1 or Firefox
1.5.0.9 on Windows XP:
*) Firefox sends the POST to anlgform.pl.
*) When Firefox gets the completed response to the POST, ***it sends a
superfluous GET*** to anlgform.pl
*) Firefox waits for the completed response to the GET, then renders the
page -- with the response to the initial POST
IE 7, Opera 9.1, and curl 7.13.1 (the latter running on Mac OS X) do not
do this!
When I modify anlgform.pl so that it collects the output of the analog
binary, strips off the HTTP headers added by analog, then prepends it
own before sending the output, then Firefox behaves normally and does
not send the superfluous GET.
I observed the superluous GET by using Apache's forensic logging module.
