Let me start then someone else can pick up. - There is modern Hebrew - what they speak right now.
- There is Biblical Hebrew - what the words are through the texts we have written using Masoretic vowel points and Strong's translations. (this is what you find in most Hebrew/English dictionaries and current church understanding) - There is Ancient Hebrew (our interest) as we try to go behind the curtain and figure out what the Hebrew symbols (words to us) meant to those first people who spoke and heard them (that would not be us). In many cases Strong's et.al. used many words to translate one word in Hebrew. The mechanical translation tries to settle on ONE word or concept that has meaning and makes sense through out the Hebrew text. You have to decide what level you are looking for in order to decide what word concept you want to use. I think your W may our V' and generally stands for And. And he went, And he walked, and looked etc. And the old text loves "And" so that is why you see it. And we don't love "and" so that is why your English teacher told you to stop using it. And it is dumped in modern versions and we get confused in translation. And you will need to find the root of the word in order to figure out the word.
