Hmmmm, with all respect, I think you’re being too literal. Many Jews, especially Orthodox, engage in a [beautiful] ritual while davening that involves repetitive bowing at the waist. Like head-bowing in Christianity, the ritual bowing of some Jews while Davening is NOT required. Indeed, in my Church, some of us bow our heads, others raise their hands, others kneel, and so forth. What postures one assumes while praying is generally a matter of individual preference, not religious doctrine. >2. Jews chose ADONAI As for myself, I may be too literal as well, but I would just point out that G-d chose Israel, not the Jews (Jews and Judaism did not exist until the kingdom of Judah was established (following the death of Saul). More specifically, G-d chose Abraham from whom the children of Israel (nee Jacob) arose. Indeed, if one looks at the arc of the Biblical narrative, the “jews” were not really offered a choice apart from follow YHWH or perish in slavery.
