The Hebrew phonetics alone can very from sects and with no vowels these 
phonetics were handed down from father to son (till some Jews wrote the vowels 
in to their text) but the original as you all know all letter were written 
together, so if a letter was taken from another word it changed the meaning, if 
a vowel was added that was incorrect, it changed the meaning. Samaritan Torah 
shows this with thousands of variations to sounds and meaning. Also Avraham Tal 
(works on the Dead Sea Scrolls) informed me once that 'there are words that the 
meaning of the word is not known.' Maybe the vowels are not known or again the 
incorrect placement of letters for words.
Placing an incorrect vowel makes a big difference. Pronunciation is also 
different (Tomato or tomato). 
Even the ancient Hebrew classes that are on the web are speculation!
I have personally found the Samaritan Hebrew to be the best reading and they 
still use the ancient Hebrew in their text. Is not there something about not 
changing Torah, not change one word -one letter? You shall not add to it or 
take away. Adding vowels to the original text, does that fall under the 
instructions? Learning the correct name of the Creator, is that for everyone, 
even those that would corrupt the name?

      All hebrew words (ie, 3 letters w no vowels) are "sounded out". We don't 
say "shin lamed vav mem" for "shalom"!! We speak it. I don't understand why Yod 
Hey VAV Hey would be any different (other than the jews say it's bad to speak 
His name...for reasons other than Scripture)?
