I also started to learn java and android soon ![]() and by will of the god i become some how good at it ![]()
About the java I had some presentation slides that helped me this is its link :

(in each slide read the notes that is found in each slide it will explain good each slide)
about the android i read the documentation on google till the i finished the tutorial of Notepad (if u didnt understand leave it that day and read it the day after till u understand it only)
then i read all this part on google http://code.google.com/android/devel/implementing-ui.html
then i started to make some GUI and evertime i wanted to do anything i ask on that group how it is done or by searching in the form www.anddev.org
it is so good and its tutorials is so easy and its steps is easy to be done ![]()

2 weeks there, then download the upcoming SDK. Play with the API
demos on the emulator. Work the Hello Android example to learn how
use Eclipse. Aim Eclipse at the source directory for the API demos,
particularly at the one you want to use as the foundation building
block. Work the notepad tutorials if you need a database (the ones
that reflect changes in the new SDK, if any). Leave the emulator
running all the time on your computor with Eclipse pointed at stable
code - that way you can play on the emulator and improve your
dexterity.
That is kind of the pattern I followed, in spare time and days off, to
submit our entry, starting March 23 with a computer purchase to run
the emulator and ending on the due date of April 14. As I read
through the sun stuff until the arrival of the next SDK, the Google
documentation seems to be improving step for step with my Java
vocabulary :-)
